Samsung Smart windshield: Adding virtual dashboards for motorcycles

Samsung is considering adding an intelligent dashboard system to motorcycles through the concept product called "Samsung Smart windshield", according to the PC Web site. Intelligent windshield is a display equipment, so that the driver of the motorcycle will be able to interact with the mobile phone.

Users can connect smartphones (via WiFi and a dedicated applications) to devices that are mounted on motorcycles and integrated with projectors. When a user drives a motorbike, the projector receives information from smartphones and displays them in translucent form at the bottom of the windshield.

PC says the smart windshield can display various kinds of information, including navigation, email, messages and mobile notifications. It also has a text message automatic response function, so that users do not have to reach out to get a mobile phone in their pockets when driving.

Samsung called the smart Windshield a "revolution for young motorcyclists". So far, the main way to add smart features to motorcycles is to install the head-mounted displays in the helmet.

But the windshield display device is more meaningful because it has less impact on the driver's attention than the head-worn display, PC said. Even so, viewing the information shown on the windshield still distracts the driver's attention, while driving a motorbike is more damaging than driving a car
